Bin collections on bank holidays, what you need to know

Bank holidays can move your bin day collection. Many councils collect a day later all week, some collect on the Saturday before, and some don't change anything. Here's how it works, and how to keep up without checking.

How bank holidays change your bin collection

Every council handles bank holidays its own way, so your bin day collection might move, or might not move at all. Most follow one of these patterns..

The most common pattern. If Monday is a bank holiday, Monday's bins go out on Tuesday, Tuesday's on Wednesday and so on, with Friday's bins collected on Saturday. Things go back to normal the following week.
